Weymouth & All Souls Lodge: The Next 200 Years
All Souls Lodge finds itself in an exciting, unexpected situation of being involved in this major sculptural project which will be an inspiring and important feature for Weymouth. This not only embraces the legacy of Georgian patronage and architecture, for which Weymouth is so famous, but also records the world events in which Weymouth has played a significant part.
At this time, when the United Kingdom and the rest of the world, commemorates the sacrifice of so many in opposing evil, this inspirational depiction of Faith, Hope and Charity is of increasing relevance to our modern society.
The discerning eye of local artist Graham Snow saw the huge potential that the Georgian façade of Weymouth Masonic Hall offered for a major sculpture. This central, prominent site Providing easy access to the widest possible audience.
After securing the interest of All Souls Lodge, owners of the Masonic Hall, Graham approached the eminent sculptor Michael Sandle R.A.. Having visited Weymouth and the Masonic Hall, researched local history and visited Freemasons Hall in London (itself constructed as a memorial to the dead of the Great War), Michael was inspired to create his vision of a magnificent sculpture that will stimulate and intrigue.
This outstanding sculpture by a world renowned artist will attract enormous interest and be an important art installation in Weymouth’s continuing history.
